Square lake is easier and still hold a good head of fish, if you park over in the back carpark and go to the swim just infront its a nice swim. When i was fishing it in 2006 alot of fish where coming out on Icelandic Red fished over a small bag of halibut pellets.

Yeah, I went down for the whole day and fished the westbank. Had two runs and two hook pulls. One on Tutti Fruity and one on Pineapple Plus.

My Daughter had two small common and a stack of roach on red maggot. Her best carp was 7lb and got her junior angler of the week, picture on shell angling website and picture and mention in local paper.

Outfished again !!!

Any suggestions on decent hooks greatly appreciated.

Grahame

Cheers for the hook advice mate.

I am new to this carp game having fished the pole and for pike my whole life.

Can you explain the meaning of adjusting your end rig down.

Cheers

I ment to shorten the hooklink down Sometimes if the hooklinks to long it give the fish that extra chance to shake the hook after a take. I normally use 3/6 inch hooklinks in my fishing using a stiff coated braid or flurocarben, Because the warrens quite mirky u can get away with a stiff braid. I would probally look at a 5inch Sufix Black Silt keeping the coating ln for 4inchs and off the other inch and the hair tied to a size 10 RaptorX.

Dont take my advice as gospel mate though, im no fantastic fisherman these are just things that have worked in the past for me. best thing to do is to experiment and keep you rigs down in a notepad with notes underneath with what went wrong.

Dont get obsessed with changing things like i did this season though as it proved devistating to my fish catching skills Very Happy
