epetitions.direct.gov....ions/26544

We have a major problem across the country with organised fish theft and a petition has been set up to try and encourage the goverment to take stronger action against the people commiting these crimes and the more signatures this petition gets the more likely the goverment will sit up and listen.
It only takes about a minute to fill in so please spare a minute and help save the countrys fish stocks.

(Admin if possible can this thread stay at the top for a while ?)[b]

OK - dun that.......

Maybe you (and all EF members, please) could be kind enough to sign my petition about pollution.

epetitions.direct.gov....+waterways

It's at 101 signatures now, but we need to do a lot better than that if we are going to get Thames Water (and all the other bl00dy polluters) to put their hands in their pockets and spend some shareholder's money, instead of letting the taxpayers fund it all.

i have signed the petition but its unlikely the govt will take any notice. There dept the EA has made a complete mess of things in regards to the whats an illegal fish in this country (is not the mink and the grey "furry" squirrel illegal ?) the grey squirrel) ,so i doubt they be bothered about fish steals . And many clubs and fisheries in the uk has had problems of our foreign "come to britain and steal fish " friends.
Most of which are not even legal to be here ! (fact) and the govt has problems escourting out illegals ,so they even less interested in fish steals.
Shame we dont do what they do in saudi arabia (islamic country) and chop off there hands . Damm its against their human rights.

Barry, yes I have signed it, but we are living in a world with people starving, fighting wars, the whole world is in a Recession. Like Flash I'd say the EA hasn't covered it's self in glory of late, and will almost defiantly not be able to do anything here.

Good luck anyway.

Thanks chaps the petition has 383 signatures so far and hopefully this number will continue to grow and maybe just maybe the angling weeklies will pick up on this and push the petition even further.Once again thankyou for taking the time to sign the petition.

The number of signatures is now up to 446 but many more are needed so if you have read this thread and havent yet signed please take a minute to do so . I believe that the chap that started this petition is going to be chatting to the anglers mail and times soon and hopes to get a link to the petition published in their mags which should help and hopefully they will put the weight behind the cause Also if any of you belong to other forums and wouldnt mind posting a link to this petition i would be very grateful.

Many thanks Paul

the EA have had massive funding cuts and were understaffed before that took place, this just made matters far worse.
They are given funding then it is allocated to different parts of the EA to deal with what is highest on the list of priorities, this has to fall inline with what national government want.
Don't always be so keen to blame the EA...they don't like it any more than we do, but they are fighting battles with their hands tied behind their backs half the time

I signed and also posted on the CAA forum but to stand any chance of achieving the required votes you'd really need to reach out to a lot more forums, I think I'm right in saying you need 100,000 votes for it to even be considered
Also it might have been better to have posted this under the general section rather than carp specific especially since rivers are the easier target areas for thefts

Either way good luck!
