the club has a stretch of the thames which is also a day ticket and there are some very good barbel. They have 3 other waters one in braintree which i have never been to. "moores lane" this has 2 lakes one larger than the other. carp to 15 lbs plus good perch ,roach, rudd, fantails, golden fantails, bream ,gudgeon,F1,crucian and other hybreds, common and mirror, goldfish not deep at 4ft-5ft. the smaller lake has carp too 21lbs+ and basically the same as the larger lake except for one mystery fish (yet to be caught) a "grass carp ?" up to 16lbs or so. deeper than the larger lake maybe 6-7ft lake is very secure with three gates with two locks The lake at kelvedon hatch is quite fairly narrow in places in places is long and very deep on one end it was recorded as being 20ft deep but with the silt is more like 12-15ft. fish there...includeing koi, common and mirror to about 24/5lbs several ghostie plus the usual fish you would expect.
\there lakes are very mature and can catch the angler out .there have many traps for the unwary angler. includeing low trees and roots. ideal for both ledgering and pole fishing . One thing they have in common the lakes are generally very quite even in the summer

Best baits winter luncheon meat and maggots summer maize, sweet corn maggots.
I personally would not recommend useing luncheon for ledgering ! in the spring to autumn.(ok for float fishing
I have heard that there lake at shalford is not on there fishery list this season. (does anyone know if this is true?).
The "grass carp"at moores lake has still not been caught ,the fish is about 20lbs or so....
Night fishing is allowed in there waters but has to be fished in pairs and yu need to go to the club weekly meetings in romford to get a ticket (free) Best lake for night fishing is the kelvedon hatch venue. moores lane is a little cramped ,also you are right on top of your car there !(more space too)
