the only rats you should be worried about is the 2 legged version.
its unlikely foxes or even rats would effect your fishing unless you are scared of them ! Most lakes i have fished at have water rats
they should not be a problem just keep an eye on your sandwiches.
They might dissapear into someone elses mouth rather than yours .
had the impression that there is a bit of a "click" fishing there !once they know you i am shure you wont have any problems.
been there a couple of times, but not to fish (my sister in law lives nearby)

My tip to you would be to go and put your lines in the water with a bit of bait on a hook & see what happens Laughing Laughing

The place can be very secretive tbh, but a couple of members on here & trying there hardest to tidy the place up & make it a nice place. Unfortunately there is a minority that fish it who are just filty scum (Read previous posts & you will see why) But go & give it a try and make your own mind up.

Personally I think its a hole in the ground that is bl**dy deep in places without many features. Its got some lovely big carp in there but you gotta be lucky to get one. Its got loads of other bigger fish in there as well as carp & there are not many people who fish for the roach etc etc

Give it a go & give us your thoughts be nice to get a report from a newbie so to speak.

you need to plan more than one session. the biggest carp i have seen come out and i know what bait and method because i was fishing next door. i fish for anything and may get told and see more because of this. spring and early summer sees lots of new members trying there luck and by mid summer most of these members are trying elswhere as it is a hard water. it is like as warren said an upside down pyramid and i fish it through the exsisting river closed season. theres not loads of fish but that means plenty of food for whats left.

there is a bit of a rat problem due to people leaving rubbish ive heard a couple of anglers having stuff taken by foxes , there are at least 2 foxes over there , and i have had 2 bags chewed through by mice which have came into my bivvy , we do try to keep the rubbish to a minimum but we cannot be over ther 24/7 , if the lake likes you , you can do well but if it dont you will struggle big time , i know people who have blanked for nearly 2 years and a lot of people can go 4-5 weeks and not catch , so its not anglers not wanting to give you imformation most of them work hard for there fish and want to keep it to their selfs for a while . the lake is deep up to 30 ft in the middle and about 6 ft under your rod tips and it just slopes down no real features...
