Into the ground. All the ditches and drainage pipes going into the river are bone dry. In the winter these are always flowing keeping the levels up. You can trot a float at the irons near shonks in stanford rivers section even at its lowest point of 0.29m

Dragged my float through my stationary swim in last night's Castle A.C. match, and managed to win with four species, chub, roach, perch & rudd, but only one crayfish - very unusual for the Summer. Apparently our friends from the Travelling Community have been trapping them on our stretch.

Thanks Andy - but I'm not quite sure where 'the irons' actually are...

Also, on my last visit in October I looked on the upstream side of the bridge to try to find the swim(s?) that have been dug out - couldn't get within 20 ft of the River due to foliage and brambles.

Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated, pm maybe.....? Rolling Eyes

Doesn't it just p*** you off when that happens, I've gotten into the habit of saving any long PM's to 'Notepad' - then if the pm system dies you can just copy and paste the text file.

email now on way via 'tiscali'.......

Thanks again
Barry

3 of us worked in the river at the big pool and a old swim after on sunday and the flow increased for a while.the level is down to its lowest level and i returned in the evening. my best mate was already there and had a few chubb and dace from the irons. i own a competition class pole but nothing beats float fishing with a centerpin and a small balsa or stick. we need around 0.40m to trot properly and the river is around 0.29m. the farmer has cut the grass from mitchells to shonks so we can get at the river and try and remove some of the jungle.hope for a little rain.
