Fished Willow Mere for a few hours this morning
Few small roach to corn, no sign of the tench or "brown goldfish" promised by the rulebook!
Some very nice carp cruising the surface though, some of them looked to be upper doubles, maybe even low 20's!

i wouldnt bother going by what the guide book says any-more,i reckon what fish they state are in each lake applys from when the club started me thinks and they probably haven't updated it since!!

i will probably have a go here on friday,with a float rod and some maggies,corn and punched meat,not after nothing big just fancy a bag of silvers with a bit of luck, had a look round here last week and it is tiny..

In all honesty I've got to say don't bother with maggots, the place was literally swarming with 2 inch roach, you'll never get a maggot down through them!
Every time I put a ball of groundbait in the water literally "boiled" in front of me!

okay mate,same if you put some bread on the surface at new maltings,the roach fry just bubble up around it.
ill leave the maggies in the shop then..

well had my first days fishing at willow mere sat 8/7/06
and what a day we had 13 double fig carp in all
got there at 6am we was the only ones there fish near the island had 2 commons 12lb 4oz and 16lb 1 mirror 14lb 7oz my boy had 8 carp out
7 commons 18lb 1 oz/16lb 12oz/12lb9oz/10lb/10lb6oz/11lb50z/14lb7oz
and 1 mirror at 11lb 9oz and a crucian at 2lb 5oz
even my younger son had a nice bream out of about 2 1/2lb
there was even a bloke over there from anglers mail he took lots of pic
so never know i may be in next weeks anglers mail lol
any way was a good days fishing
i put some pic up in the gallery

Having just Joined Bdac with my son
and have only managed to Fish the Mountnessing lake with the island
Can you please tell me which lake is the Willow Mere lake and is it on the BDAC website
as i have left my handbook at home.

it is on the web-site- its located on the A1060 between chelmsford and newlands hall.quite near to roxwell.

had a few hours here for the first time today after work, just about to pack up and had a 12lb 10oz mirror on double 14mm halibut pellet.

had another few hours after work today and had 2 commons 9lb 8oz and 8lb 6oz both on halibut pellet again.

Fished there on sunday for a few hours had one Pike 12lb on Smelt. very quiet no signs of any other fish until it got dark when the silver fish started jumping.
