Parents must love kids who have an interest in fishing, I can remember from the age of 6 onwards when we went on holiday and me and my little brother sat on the pier all day long with our crab lines...ohh and Im 39 now!

My bro is a yr older than me,n i can safely say,the 1st hook i ever felt was at the age of 7. A couple of yrs into fishing, taught by dad on hols. That hook was in my backside when my bro did overhead cast n i was with my back him. The air was blue n all the older anglers were fallin off their boxes laughin. Oh the hols we spent at billing aquadrome.

Started when i was about 8 on the river lea, now i'm 39. Laughing

Have 2 sons 5 & 7 who both love their fishing too, the eldest recently
had his PB carp of 12lb at the Warren, should have seen the look on his face, mixture of excitement and a little fear trying to play and land the fish.

Fishing is a good disipline for youngsters both from a social and bankside manners point a view, an would recommended it to anyone
old or young there something for everyone.

Maybe it is a sport, where the old men pass on their skills, knowledge and eticut to the next generation, who, without guidance, lose heart thru lack of guidance, leave the sport. Ur mates dad was not into fishing no doubt. I dare say, most young uns left in the sport were taught by their peers. Cliff.

Funny tho it seems alot of folk were intoduced by their dads to fishing,my oldman hated it no interest at all and my eldest lad (18) has no interest either,he follows Rangers tho,so theres where all his cash goes..

I was also introduced by my old man, i was about 5 at cromer catching crabs also. Then i got to read a copy of his fishing book, 'fishing with Mr Crabtree' then took me to berwick aged 6. So been fishing for about 23-24 years.
All my nephews love fishing.
think your mate only says it is for old people as older people and people who own businesses have time to go all the time, so are seen more.

Laughing Laughing What about old women Exclamation Exclamation An sindybird is not that old. Laughing

Though i have had comments of " yuck how can you fish" To "you wouldn't catch me doing that" To " what NO hairdryers or showers" Laughing Laughing

I once got told we push our daughter into fishing, Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes we make her go. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Cause myself and hubby goes fishing we naturally force the kid into fishing. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Sometimes people are just out to be nasty, ie as the person who said we push her into fishing, or they just don't understand fishing.

Laugh it off, rm13_hammer, that's what i do, Laughing Laughing we can't all like and love the same sport can we.

sindybird. Twisted Evil
