Do you ever think i wonder what is in there ??????????

Ok a question has sprung in my mind this morning that i want to ask all you Anglers.

Right when you are out, ie driving along, on holiday, driving somewhere in an area you are not used to, abroad And you see a small stream, river, lake do you think to yourself i wonder what could be lurking in there.

My self, the kid and G always say this when we see a patch of water ie as above river, lake etc and we always say to one another or give the look as to say i wonder what would be lurking in there. Laughing

A silly question it might sound but i am interested to see if other Anglers think the same way as we do. Embarassed

So do you Anglers think the I Wonder What Is There. Question

yes definately i am very much the same Very Happy

last xmas i was in cyprus and we came across a huge resoviour at the bottom of the mountain range and i now know there are big carp in there. also 5-6 years ago i was in gran-canaria by maspolomas beach and there i see what was lurking in there which were black bream around the twenty pound mark at a guess, ended up buying 2 loafs of local bread and enjoyed feeding them on the surface very much. i did fancy a little bit of poaching but the telescopic rods by the beach wasnt going to be up to the job. Crying or Very sad

Third nutter here!

All the time, and even if i know whats in the water im fishing i want to know what the bottom looks like, and what the fish are doing etc... Anything under the water fascinates me!

Especially the calm, murky overgrown lakes you see, the voices in my head scream FISH!!!! And in the summer you sometimes see something break the surface and you have no idea what it is... Damn winter! If i could drive you could be sure i wouldnt be sitting at the computer!

Some here, everytime i see a place i haven't seen before, the mind starts ticking over. What if ? Could it ? Nah prob not ! Dunno though ? Hmmmmmmm yer i reckon it could ! Fook It fish it !!

Hell yeah !!!!

Its what fishing is about, its not a sport...it's a bloody life style. There is a river outside my hotel window now and I would love to chuck a couple of baits out and see what comes along.

Where you at Mrs G, I tried calling.

Hey doesnt everybody think like that...I was up in freezing Berwick at the weekend and at my mates house there is a small river that flows past, and he didnt have a clue what was in there, and cannot ever remember if he has actually seen anybody fish it...so nexty time the old Rods will be coming with me!!!!

that will be the ingrebourne river, and there is chub and pike there in large numbers, but what would i know that might be a rumoir Laughing

Pike you say? wherebouts?

there are chub in the river as im fairly sure i caught a little one years and years ago when i was a kid, some decent roach too, no record breakers but over a 1lb. Wherebouts are the pike and such?

Its such a small river its hard to find enough water to fish!

start at hacton lane park and walk towards berwick. keep them eyes peeled son,

Aye hacton park is where i caught the chub, used be a nice swim right opposite the play park where the bank went down to a sort of beach, deep track on the far side where the chub and roach would patrol, but nowadays its full of 4ft high nettles, not my kinda fishing!

Ill have to give it a go in the summer, free fishing and a nice place too, just a shame its so shallow and reedy most of its length

Would seem strange but then as the title suggests you never quite know whats in these places! I know theres chub and roach, probably perch too so it wouldnt surprise me if pike had got in there and are living on the bait fish and i suppose anyone local who had fish they didnt want would chuck em in the river so could be anything in there.

The only thing is it gets filthy when it rains as all the oil comes off the roads right into it which aint so nice...
