The fish so im told after describing it to the fishery officer and mentioned it had dodgey eye he informed me it was most likely popeye,another known 30 in the lake,i have caught lumpy previously on 2 occasions so can confirm it was not lumpy.
On i lighter note i did also witness the capture of another 30lb common before christmas a very clean and well conditioned fish.
Lets hope the idiots who were responsible for the damage to popeye get nowhere near this one

its a shame that any big fish dies let alone it being killed by bad handling , it would be good if a club official read these post and got the committee to ban braid mainline and inforce lead clips on weedy waters...

Even worse for me are artificial baits etc coupled on a bad rig plastic/rubber is there forever or a very long time a snapped up rig in the weed with a plastic corn/maggot attached = a dead fish at some point for me they should ban them along with braid.
