Through the back looks natual or through the tail, obviously not through the head o its a deadbait,,through he bottom lip ive had results have results, if your talkig about rigs attach a luocarbon peice of line between your ball and swivel to make a T affect to stop tangles use pva sting to trap your ball ling up the line to prevent tangles, if you find livebait is banned ( crow green as recently had live baits bnned) use deadbaits hooked trough the head in salmon oil and a lil tip , put polystyene up he fises mouth this makes a smell ntural looking bait Smile

lip hooked is best. Use a bait disc over the point to stop it coming off.

Rudd are better than roach, they last for hours

you guys are joking about ducks but a few years ago i was fishing in Bulgaria and they use live sparrows for bait Shocked

they wire their legs together then attach their line through the wire with a sodding great hook hanging under the bird. They cast this out into the water and as the bird is flapping, trying to get away, the noise and motion attracts the cats. Next thing is there's a swirl and no more sparrow.

Largest cat i saw caught on this method was just over 180lb

Yeah..I was joking about the duck Laughing

The sparrow thing may seem totally out of order, However.. intrinsically and morally its not really any different from live baiting with fish. The intent to harm is there the same.

I dont have a problem with livebaiting with fish, but its on very dodgy ground, ethically. I dont live bait, but thats not on any moral ground, but more to placate my partner.. Best left to each anglers conscience probably.

I could not bring myself to use our feathered friends as bait, no matter how effective it was. Its probably a practice the Bulgarians have used for a long time and does not create any moral dilemma for them.

I do live bait for pike and cats and have no moral dilema with it at all...BUT...I couldnt use a bird as a bait. Fish are cold blooded and do not have the neuro receptors in their brains to register pain the way we do but birds are warm blooded and definately do feel pain.

I did contemplate using the Bulgarian lad but I couldnt find a hook big enough Laughing
